Introduction
i-mate is a developer and supplier of high-end wireless integrated Pocket PCs and Smartphones, specialising in the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems. These devices are sold under the i-mate brand, supported by related content and services. The Group’s devices, services and content offering are targeted at both business and individual end users.
History
i-mate (formerly Carrier Devices) was founded in 2001 by Jim Morrison. Jim, who has over 20 years experience in telecoms (principally with Cable & Wireless and BT), was a key member of the team that conceived and designed the product which became the O2 xda.

i-mate successfully launched its first product, the Qtek 1010 Pocket PC, in Europe and the Middle East in 2002 The first i-mate branded product, the i-mate Smartphone, was launched into the Middle East market in May 2003 and, in June 2003, I-mate’s head office was established in Dubai, UAE.

The i-mate Pocket PC was launched at GITEX 2003 to great acclaim.

Based on its success in the Middle East, i-mate extended its presence into other markets, principally Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and parts of Europe. Further collaborative design and development work with HTC, the handset manufacturer has seen the launch of 12 devices to date.

The Company today
Today i-mate has grown into an international developer of high-end wireless devices with its operational headquarters in Dubai. The group has expanded from its original base in The Gulf and has established the i-mate brand in the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and parts of Europe. The Group secured a presence in the UK and Italian markets in 2004 and in the US in early 2005.
