Founded in 1985, E-TEN built the first Chinese language input system for DOS based computers, thereby introducing the personal computer revolution to the Chinese language using world. The E-TEN system went on to become a foundation of the internationally recognized Big5 Chinese character coding standard. If Big5 sounds like a familiar term to you, it’s no surprise. Most PC users have seen references to the Big5 standard in their web browsers and word processors because the Big5 standard was eventually adopted by MicrosoftR for their Chinese language WindowsR operating system and is readily encountered as one of the most common character encoding standards on the Internet.

Building upon its major presence in Chinese software, E-TEN began developing its expertise in the hardware market that Taiwan is so famous for. With a background in software and data management, information appliances (IAs) and personal digital assistants (PDAs) were a natural market to pursue. By the middle of the 90’s E-TEN was the undisputed leader of the Chinese language based PDA/IA market.

The key to this success was the E-TENR real time stock trading IA which premiered in 1997. This outstanding product conquered the local market to such a degree that E-TEN has saturated this market with 85% penetration.

Now, with the birth of the E-TEN P600R Cellular PocketPC, E-TEN is sharing the fruits of its technological genius with the western world. E-TEN welcomes all interested foreign parties to please contact us to discuss your ODM, OEM requirements for the Pocket PC.
